back in the day if I met someone else who liked anime they were probably on the same tier of weeaboo as me and I could form an immediate bond
I've had people ask me my favorite animes and they don't even know what gurren lagann is

Yeah these days people actually come out with stuff like "oh yeah dude by the way I am totally learning Japanese" and expect to be praised for it. When I say people it's usually some dumbass high school/undergrad 20 year old college student. You can't even take these people seriously especially when you have a personal vendetta against that whole lot for ruining something that was once dear to me.
